Evidence

Rankfield's own term for the specific numbers, posts or observations attached to a recommendation.

Evidence is what Rankfield attaches to every recommendation: the specific numbers, posts or observations that put a scenario at the top of the list, so a reader can check why, rather than take the ranking on faith.

A recommendation with no evidence under it is a guess wearing a ranking. The evidence is what makes it possible to disagree with a scenario on its own terms, instead of just trusting or ignoring the list.

Two scenarios can look equally plausible in a title; the evidence under each is what a reader actually has to decide between.

Evidence is also what makes a miss useful rather than just disappointing: a scenario that did not work, filmed against a stated reason, teaches something specific the next list can act on — a miss with no evidence behind it teaches nothing, and a hit with no evidence behind it cannot be repeated on purpose either.

A common mistake is confusing evidence with a compliment — evidence that a scenario matches a finding is not a guarantee it will work, and it is written to be checked and disagreed with, not simply trusted.

Evidence is also what lets two scenarios that look similar on the surface get ranked differently: one might match a format the account's own history already rewards, while the other matches a gap only a single competitor has tried, and the evidence is what shows which risk a reader is actually taking. Evidence ages, too: a number pulled from a post six months old carries less weight than one from last week, part of why a baseline is read from an account's recent history rather than its full archive.

Where it comes from

This is Rankfield's own vocabulary, not a platform term. The landing page names it directly, in the line that gives the whole research section its heading.

Ideas are cheap. Evidence isn't.

What Rankfield reads

The landing page answers this directly, in its own words:

Your account end to end, your competitors, and the wider market around you: posts, videos, captions, comments, rhythm, what you offer. It watches the videos, not just the numbers under them.
